A Localscapes design for your yard, not a pattern from a catalog.

Localscapes is the Utah-specific landscaping method behind the state's rebate programs: a central open shape, gathering areas, paths, activity zones and planting beds, each watered to its needs. We design to the standard, so your plan is rebate-ready and looks like it belongs below the Wasatch.

The five Localscapes elements

Central open shape: one simple lawn or meadow or patio in the middle, not grass everywhere. Gathering areas: a place to sit. Paths: so nobody walks through the beds. Activity zones: play, dogs, garden. Planting beds: everything else, on drip, grouped by water need.

That is the whole method. The reason it works in Utah is that it puts the water where people actually use the yard and takes it away from the strips and corners nobody walks on.

What you get

A scaled plan, a plant list with quantities and water needs, an irrigation zone map, and the photo and paperwork package the rebate application asks for. Install it with us or hand it to anyone.

Questions about localscapes design

Is Localscapes the same as xeriscape?

Localscapes is a Utah method for laying out a yard; xeriscape is the broader idea of low-water landscaping. A Localscapes yard is a xeriscape, designed around how Utahns actually use their lots.

Start with the strip.

A fixed-price park strip conversion, planted to rebate standard, paperwork handled. Most strips are done in a day.
