Three ways to kill a lawn, and which one we use

Sod cutting is fastest and cleanest: the lawn is gone in a morning and the grade is ready for beds. Solarization works but takes a full summer under plastic. Herbicide is cheap and we do not use it near beds you will plant into the same month.

We cut, haul and recycle the sod, then till the top few inches with compost so the new plants root into something better than compacted clay.

Converting spray to drip

Your existing valves and controller stay. We cap the spray heads, run drip line through the new beds and set each zone on a schedule for the plants it feeds. Most clients cut outdoor water use by half or more in the first season.

Questions about lawn removal

What happens to the old sod?

It goes to a green-waste facility and becomes compost. Nothing goes to the landfill.

Will removing my lawn lower my home value?

Not in this market. Utah appraisers and agents now treat water-wise landscaping as a feature, especially where secondary water is metered. A well-planted yard with drip beats a struggling lawn every time.

Start with the strip.

A fixed-price park strip conversion, planted to rebate standard, paperwork handled. Most strips are done in a day.
